ILOILO CITY—Two months after his retirement, the former chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Capiz province is seeking an elective post.

Retired police colonel Julio Gustilo Jr. officially became a candidate for a seat in the 2nd District of the Capiz Provincial Board.

In his Facebook posts, Gustilo said his platform is for peace and development.

Gustilo, who retired from the PNP last June as the chief of the Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO), is running under the ruling party PDP-Laban (Cusi wing).

Gustilo is under the alliance of incumbent Governor Esteban Evan “Nonoy” Contreras II and former governor Victor Tanco Sr., who is running for vice governor.

Aside from peace and development, Gustilo wants to expand a program he initiated as Capiz police chief.

It was Gustilo and his staff who came up with Bahay at Kabuhayan Nila Handog Namin (Bayanihan), the program which built homes for poor families.

Meanwhile, Gustilo was awarded during the recent visit of PNP Chief Police General Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar for initiating the Bayanihan program at CPPO.
