Lawyer seeks senatorial seat, vows to promote welfare of gov't employees

Paul Medard Escolano

Senatorial aspirant Lawyer Paul Medard Escolano said that he will promote the welfare of government employees should he win in the upcoming general elections next year.

Ensuring the welfare of government employees is also a way to fight corruption, said Escolano after he filed his certificate of candidacy on Tuesday, Oct. 5.

“Maraming nagsasabi to fight corruption. Marami ng batas diyan. Ang gagawin ko to end corruption is pagandahin ko buhay ng mga government employees (Many are saying that they would fight corruption. There’s already a lot of laws about that. What I will do to end corruption is I will improve the lives of government employees),” he said in his speech.

“Paano iyon (How)? by enacting laws that will benefit them. For example, college education for their children and housing,” he added.

He will also rally for the welfare of the country’s healthcare workers.

“Now this pandemic, hindi nababayaran ang mga health workers diba? So paano natin masusuklian ang kanilang paghihirap? (Now this pandemic, health workers are not paid properly, right? So how can we compensate them?) by enacting tax incentives to health workers,” said Escolano.

Escolano said that he would also push for the “establishment of general hospitals all over the Philippines mainly in northern and central Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.”
