Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte still emerged as the top pick among the preferred presidential candidates in the 2022 elections, based on the latest Pulse Asia survey results released on Wednesday, Sept. 29.
The non-commissioned survey was conducted from Sept. 6 to 11 with 2,400 adult respondents nationwide.
Pulse Asia found 20 percent of Filipinos expressing support for the possible presidential bid of Duterte in the 2022 national and local elections.
Three personalities, who registered essentially the same voter preferences, came in 2nd.
These were former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. (15 percent), Manila Mayor
Francisco Domagoso (13 percent), and Senator Emmanuel Pacquiao (12 percent).
Sharing 3rd place were Senator Grace Poe (9 percent), Vice President Leni Robredo (8 percent), and Senator Panfilo Lacson (6 percent).
Meanwhile, the "lowest levels of support" were recorded by Taguig City-Pateros Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano (4 percent), Senator Christopher Go (3 percent), former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV (1 percent), former Akbayan partylist Rep. Walden Bello (0.1 percent), and former Department of National Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro.
The rest of Filipino adults did not favor any presidential candidate (4 percent), were still ambivalent about their choice for president in the next elections (3 percent), or refused to name their preferred presidential bet (1 percent).
Forty-seven percent of those in Mindanao expressed support for Duterte, while 28 percent of those in Metro Manila backed Marcos.
In the rest of Luzon, the lead was shared by Marcos (20 percent) and Domagoso (16 percent).
However, nearly the same percentage of the area’s adult residents expressed indecision, refusal, or non-support in relation to their first choice for President (13 percent).
Among those in the Visayas, the top presidential bets were Duterte (23 percent), Pacquiao (21 percent), and Domagoso (15 percent).
Moreover, Pulse Asia said "practically the same voter preferences are scored by seven possible presidential candidates" in the best-off Class ABC.
These were Domagoso (20 percent), Marcos (18 percent), Duterte (16 percent), Poe (12 percent), Robredo (8 percent), Lacson (8 percent), and Pacquiao (7 percent).
In addition, 9 percent of those in Class ABC were ambivalent about their presidential choice or refused to name their preferred candidate for the post, or were not inclined to vote for anyone as president.
Meanwhile, those in Class D were most likely to vote for either Duterte (20 percent) or Marcos (16 percent).
Those in Class E were most supportive of Duterte (25 percent) and Pacquiao (20 percent).
