LPA, ITCZ may continue to bring rain showers over parts of Luzon, W. Visayas -- PAGASA

Scattered rain showers due to the combined effects of the low pressure area (LPA) and intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) may prevail over parts of Luzon and Visayas, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 19.

PAGASA said the LPA, which is embedded along the ITCZ, was estimated at 45 kilometers north of Romblon, Romblon at around 3 p.m.

In the next 24 hours, cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may prevail over Metro Manila, La Union, Pangasinan, Nueva Vizcaya, Benguet, Ifugao, Bulacan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Zambales, Bataan, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Albay, Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Sorsogon, Masbate, Aklan, Antique, Iloilo, Guimaras, and Negros Occidental.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have generally fair weather conditions but with possible isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.

PAGASA advised the public to take precautions against possible flash floods or landslides especially during the occurrence of severe thunderstorms that are often associated with short-lived heavy rains.

The State weather bureau has also not issued any gale warning on Sunday afternoon as coastal water conditions remain slight to moderate.

Fisherfolk and those using small sea boats are safe to sail, it added.
