A man took a 12-year-old boy hostage on C3 Road in Dagat-Dagatan, Caloocan City on Friday night.
According to a Facebook live of Niño Salonga Manliclic, the hostage-taking started at around 7:15 p.m.
After one and a half hours, the victim was rescued by members of the Caloocan City Police and Philippine National Police Special Weapons and Tactics.
According to the DWIZ report, the victim was brought to Caloocan City Medical Center to undergo a physical checkup.
The suspect was identified as Anthony Ramos, 32, a resident of Mapulang Lupa, Pandi Bulacan. He is now under the custody of the Caloocan Police.
Police recovered the knife used by the suspect during the incident.
Ramos was charged with serious illegal detention and grave threat in relation to Republic Act 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act), alarm and scandal, and illegal possession of a bladed weapon.
Authorities are still investigating the motive of the hostage-taker.
