Jenelyn Olsim of Team Lakay gained the much-needed confidence booster when she emerged victorious in her ONE Championship debut against Brazilian Maira Mazar last March.

Heading into another challenge in the Circle, this time against another experienced fighter Bi Nguyen of Vietnam on Friday, Aug. 21 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in ONE: Battleground III, Olsim is more than prepared to showcase her skills once more to climb the ONE Championship leaderboard

"We have been training hard for this, physically, mentally. I believe I am ready and I know she is also ready. It's going to be a good show," said the 24-year-old Olsim, who instantly jumped to women's strawweight No. 5 after submitting Mazar in the third round.

"Bi is a tough fighter. She has that strong heart and I admire her for that. I have seen her fights and undoubtedly, she has that willpower that I have to watch out for.

"But I believe with the training that we've had, I will have an answer for that. I just know that I'm the better fighter," added Olsim, the second Team Lakay female to compete in the promotion next to Gina Iniong.

Olsim is also part of Team Lakay's new generation composed of reigning strawweight king Joshua Pacio, Danny Kingad, Jeremy Pacatiw, former BRAVE CF champion Stephen Loman, and Jhanlo Sangiao, the son of coach Mark.

It has been five months since Olsim last saw action while Nguyen finally entered the win column last May with a split decision win against Ritu Phogat of India.

The Vietnamese fighter has three wins and three losses in ONE Championship and an overall 6-6 mixed martial arts record.

"Like in my last fight, the fans can all expect an action-filled match, maybe a more technical Jenelyn," said Olsim, who will now compete in the atomweight.

"I don't want to predict what the finish will be, but either way, I'm going there with all my heart and I'll do everything just to get the win. Whatever it takes."

The winner between Olsim and Nguyen will enter the atomweight grand prix starting Sep. 3 and will face American Grace Cleveland as an altenate bout.
