Surigao del Sur officials come up with more strategic solutions vs COVID

BUTUAN CITY – Government officials and other top leaders of Surigao del Sur have came up with more strategic solutions to combat and to halt the spread of COVID-19 in the province.

Among these strategic solutions are constant coordination with various government agencies and local government units (LGUs) in making sure that all the health protocols, programs, and projects aimed at mitigating the effects of the pandemic are always available for the Surigaonons.

All line agencies of the government and LGUs have also open communication lines with the Department of Health (DOH) and the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), particularly in sending requests for hospital supplies and equipment and the necessary number of COVID-19 vaccines to be deployed in the province.

Spearheaded by House Committee on Public Works and Highways Senior Vice-Chairman Romeo S. Momo Sr., the strategic solutions are the distribution of food packs from the Department of Social Welfare and Developments (DSWD), cash assistance under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers or TUPAD program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), another cash assistance program, particularly for workers in the tourism sector being managed by the Department of Tourism (DOT), and the loan assistance program for those in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector spearheaded by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Momo recently visited the city and municipalities of Surigao del Sur in an effort to lay down needed strategic solutions to make sure his fellow Surigaonons will be able to cope up with harsh effect of the pandemic.

Just before the IATF for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases came out with the latest quarantine guidelines, Congressman Momo also personally led the bloodletting activity in Barangay Telaje, Tandag City last week.

To encourage more people from donating blood, which could help a lot in making sure that there would be enough supply especially for the treatment of COVID-19 patients and others, the former DPWH Undersecretary also gave a bag of rice and facemasks for every blood donor.

The Surigao del Sur solon also met with officials of the barangays in the municipality of Cantilan where he discussed important matters with them, as he got to know first-hand from said officials what their respective community needs and how the government and his office will extend help to them.

In Barangay Quirino of Madrid, ranking local officials led by Madrid Mayor Mary Grace Kimura and members of the town’s legislative body relayed to Momo various concerns of their constituents.

Momo said that this strategic solution is fully-supported by Surigao del Sur Gov. Alexander “Ayec” Pimentel, Second District Rep. Johnny Pimentel, Tandag City Mayor Roxanne Pimentel, and Tandag City Vice Mayor Eleanor Momo, his wife.
