QC councilor Medina leads relief goods distribution

Quezon City 2nd District Councilor Candy Medina led the recent distribution of relief goods to at least 2,500 families in barangays Payatas, Commonwealth, Batasan Hills, Holy Spirit and Silangan.

The city councilor took the initiative as she said “food is a very essential part of our constituent’s daily living.”

“Even before the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), our local government continues to do its work on the ground to reach and help out families in Quezon City, particularly District Two,” she said.

The councilor recently expressed support to Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte in pushing for the local food security program in times of crisis.

(Planning a food security will greatly help us in addressing the crisis in the country. We are all aware of the participation of our local government in providing assistance at the height of the first lockdown.)

“With the surge of Delta variant in the country, the safety and wellbeing of our constituents is the most important thing for us. These secondary lockdowns teach us a lot of things, but the most important lesson is to be resilient and united with one another,” she added.

Medina, who has been the city councilor since 2007, reiterated her appeal to the public to be more vigilant and follow every safety guideline and protocol implemented by the local government units.

Kailangan po natin magkaisa at magtulungan tayong lahat (We cannot fight COVID if we will not follow the safety protocols imposed by our LGU. We need to unite and help each other),” Medina said.

Even before COVID, our office was always open to help our constituents. While going to places of people we serve entails danger, we make sure we take care of ourselves and continue our faith in God that He guides us in our every move for the betterment of our country),” she added.

Aside from relief donations, Medina also initiated a weekly "Meat on Wheels” rolling store in her district, which gives residents an opportunity to purchase cheaper fresh meats compared to those sold in the public market.

The rolling store was recently seen at Base 3 Riverside in Barangay Commonwealth.
