15 more PDLs released from NBP

New Bilibid Prison

Fifteen more persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) were released last Aug. 5 from the National Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said.

Thus, in a span of three days since Aug. 2, a total of 32 PDLs has been freed from NBP.

Those freed had either been granted parole, had served their jail terms, or had been acquitted of the criminal charges filed against them, BuCor said.

Their release was expedited by BuCor Director General Gerald Q. Bantag and Superintendent for Medium Security Camp CCSupt. Victor Erick L. Pascua, it said.

“Nawa ang mga hirap at pagtitiis na kanilang naranasan sa loob ng piitan ay maging malaking aral sa kanila, na kanila ring ibabahagi sa iba (Hopefully the difficulties and sufferings they endured behind bars will serve as lesson that they can share),” BuCor said.

Last June, a total of 565 PDLs were released from various prison facilities of BuCor.

The bureau has not released the total number of PDLs released for the month of July 2021.
