Several parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila, will continue to experience rains in the next few days due to the prevalence of the southwest monsoon, locally known as "habagat," the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
PAGASA on Tuesday, Aug. 3, said monsoon rains may affect Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Batanes, Babuyan Group of Islands, Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Zambales, and Bataan in the next 24 hours.
The State weather bureau warned against possible flash floods or landslides during scattered to widespread moderate to at times heavy rains.
Occasional monsoon rains may also affect Metro Manila, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Occidental Mindoro, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, the rest of Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, and Nueva Vizcaya.
Those in these areas were warned against possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to at times heavy rains.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will continue to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
Weather specialist Meno Mendoza said PAGASA continues to monitor three weather disturbances--two tropical depressions and one low pressure area--near the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).
The tropical depressions were located at 3,245 kilometers (km) east-northeast of extreme northern Luzon and at 920 km west of extreme northern Luzon early Tuesday morning, while the LPA was last spotted at 615 km north of extreme northern Luzon.
Mendoza said the tropical depressions are not expected to enter the PAR.
These weather systems have no direct threat to the country but may enhance the southwest monsoon during the forecast period.
In the PAGASA's five-day regional weather outlook from Aug. 3 to Aug. 7, monsoon rains may continue to drench Metro Manila, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, and Bulacan.
Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon may have partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with rain showers and thunderstorms.
