Driver murdered while sleeping on a hammock in Cagayan

BALLESTEROS, Cagayan – A 35-year-old driver was stabbed to death while sleeping on a hammock in P4 Payagan East here Saturday, July 31.

Police identified the victim as Elvis Tabalanza, 35.

Investigation showed that the suspect, Dexter Urbano, laborer, of Agustin St., Centro East, here, had a personal grudge against the victim Urbano went to the victim’s house armed with a knife and stabbed the victim’s neck and different parts of his body while sleeping on a hammock or “duyan.” Victim died on the spot and responding local police personnel led by Police Lt. Rommel Ramos, deputy chief of police, arrested the suspect.

The suspect was taken to the Ballesteros police station for further investigation, according to case officer Police Senior Master Sgt. Arlene Reynon.
