For good behavior, six inmates were freed from the Correctional Institute for Women (CIW) in Mindanao last Sunday, July 25, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said.

“Following the computation of their good conduct time allowances (GCTAs) earned, they were found to have served their maximum sentences,” the BuCor said in a statement.

Thus, it said, on orders of BuCor Director General Gerald Q. Bantag the six inmates were freed.

“After complying with the documentary requirements and running a test for COVID-19 virus which yielded negative results, they were given gratuity allowance for their transportation going to their respective residences,” it said.

With the release of the six inmates, prison population at the CIW in Mindanao located in Sto. Tomas, Davao del Norte is down to 577, it added.
