Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao may continue to experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms this weekend due to the prevalence of the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), a rain-inducing weather system containing circulations or low pressure systems.

In the weekly weather outlook for July 9-16 period, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the ITCZ may prevail over Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao until Saturday, July 10.

Meanwhile, generally "fair" weather conditions due to partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated afternoon or evening rain showers or thunderstorms may persist across Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

By Sunday until Wednesday, July 11-14, PAGASA said that the effect of the ITCZ will likely weaken bringing generally fair weather conditions over Metro Manila and the rest of the country apart from isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

By Thursday until Friday, July 15-16, PAGASA said the southwest monsoon or "habagat" could re-intensify and affect Palawan and the western section of Southern Luzon.

The habagat will likely bring mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Western Visayas, Palawan, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Cavite, Batangas, Metro Manila, Bataan, and Zambales.

Meanwhile, generally fair weather conditions aside from isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening may prevail across the rest of the country.

PAGASA said there is a slim chance of tropical cyclone development throughout the outlook period.

"However, this outlook will be updated if significant changes in the weather pattern occur," it pointed out.
