As we slowly recover and open up our consumer-driven economy, it’s a given that the Malls will play a major role in bringing a sense of resiliency and normalcy back. So a major pressing concern for the public will always be how safe is the Mall. Local LGU’s, working with the DTI (Department of Trade & Industry), DOLE (Department of Labor & Employment), DOT (Department of Tourism), DOH (Department of Health), and the DILG (Department of the Interior and Local Government), have created a certification program that awards establishments for compliance with strict public health standards.
An inter-agency initiative, the Safety Seal is proof of the establishment’s relentless efforts to protect its visitors. On June 28, 2021, in a very simple ceremony, Rockwell’s Power Plant was awarded its certified Safety Seal. This recognizes how the Power Plant has been tirelessly creating a safety standard for its mall-goers - from the contactless thermal scanners, the always present automatic hand-sanitizer dispensers, the UV-sterilized escalator handrails, and their online contact-tracing platform, HealthBadge.
The awarding was presided by Makati City mayor Abby Binay, and Rockwell Land’s president and Chief Executive Officer Nestor Padilla. And to underscore their commitment to health safety, in partnership with the local government unit of Makati, Rockwell Land is utilizing the 5th Level of Power Plant as a Vaccination Center for its tenants, security and housekeeping personnel, and service partners. This is in line with the governments pursuit to push for the vaccination of the A4 category, or frontliners in the essential sector. Both Mayor Binay and Tong Padilla dropped by the vaccination center which was buzzing with activity.
At Rockwell, there are outdoor al fresco dining destinations on Power Plant’s Lopez Drive, at One Rockwell, and the Plaza Driveway. Social distancing and constant sanitizing is a given in these areas. And at selected stores and restaurants, vaccinated mall visitors are being rewarded with special discounts and free desserts.
