Over 100 school kits raised to help schoolkids from Baseco Compound transition to blended learning

At this year’s Father’s Day weekend, Globe Platinum customers enjoyed an exclusive tasting session that featured Cognac Fine Champagne from the House of Rémy Martin and award-winning dark chocolates from Malagos. The Cognac & Chocolates Pairing Night raised over a hundred World Vision school kits to benefit the underprivileged children of Baseco Compound, Manila.

Globe Platinum Cognac & Chocolates Pairing Night

Last June 19, the event gathered guests who, from the safety of their homes, sampled the unique combined flavors of cognac and chocolates through their complimentary tasting kits, with the guidance of French spirits connoisseur and Rémy Martin brand advocate, Kevin Charuel. The participants’ tasting sets contained three Rémy Martin minis—VSOP, CLUB and XO; three Malagos napolitains: 65%, 72% and 85% dark; and a snifter to use during the guided pairing session.

Cognac and Chocolate pairing, an indulgent experience

Since 1724, the House of Rémy Martin has been turning the finest grapes from the vineyards of Petite and Grande Champagne into Cognac Fine Champagne using its unique and elaborate distilling methods. With its masterful creation and age-old tradition in cognac, the House today has produced the most unique selection of the golden spirit, which includes Tercet, 1738 Accord Royal and the three variants highlighted at the event, all of which pair beautifully with the Philippines’ award-winning Malagos Chocolate.

Malagos Chocolates are sourced from beans grown at the Puentespina Farm in Davao City. Recently, Puentespina Farms was given the high standard by the Heirloom Cacao Preservation Fund for producing heirloom quality and fine flavor cacao beans at origin. Since its founding in 2012, it has produced an extensive collection of fine chocolates and has become the most-awarded Filipino bean-to-bar chocolate brand.

Sips for a cause

Apart from the exclusive pairing session, guests also enjoyed an auction of the rarest Rémy Martin bottles. Among the bottles sold were the Remy Martin VSOP, The Club and the event’s most precious and luxurious offer, the Rémy Martin Centaure de Diamant which is touted to be the House’s ultra-premium cognac and the epitome of Fine Champagne Cognac.

Attendance and bottles sold were matched with World Vision school kits for children from Baseco Compound, Manila. Each kit is filled with school supplies and learning modules approved by the Department of Education, which help vulnerable students continue their education at home, even during the pandemic. At the end of the virtual event, participants were invited to donate more school kits through World Vision’s website.
