The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) on Thursday, May 27, advised the public to exercise precaution when registering for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) due to several fraudulent sites and pages posing as representatives of the PhilSys.
PSA has compiled a list of fake sites and service providers, as listed below:
National ID Online Registration - Government Organization
National ID Online Registration Assistance - Public Group
Lang Lang Nocses
Naic Cavite Buy and Sell
Paniqui-Tarlac-Moncada-Anao-Gerona-Ramos Buy En Sell
Tarlac Bentahan Online
Subcon and Supplies for Garments & Small Businesses
PhilSys National ID - blog
These sites are already under investigation to weed out similar parties providing scam sign-up processes and misinformation on the PhilSys registration, it said.
The PSA reminded that only the official PhilSys website philsys.gov.ph and Facebook page PSAPhilSysOfficial provide legitimate information about the PhilSys registration process and ID issuance.
It also warned registrants not to trust any third parties with their personal information and to only disclose this information to the official online registration platform found in the PhilSys portal.
"Fake sites and third-party providers, such as Buy and Sell pages, do not operate with this security. Thus, these are prone to data leaks and misuse," the PSA explained.
"Registration to PhilSys is free of charge. Therefore, registrants must not spare any expense under any circumstances during the duration of the three-step registration process," it added.
Furthermore, PSA said that asking registrants for a fee is a violation of Republic Act 11055 or the PhilSys Act.
"All information collected through the official PhilSys website is protected by law under the Data Privacy Act of 2021," the PSA assured.
The public may also reach the PhilSys Registry Office via hotline number 1388 or e-mail at [email protected].
