The local government said Mayor Arthur Robes and Rep. Rida Rodes will shoulder the victim's funeral service on top of other assistance.

The other victim, Mary Rose Eustaquio, is still in the hospital. Her hospitalization expenses will also be shouldered by the local government.

Somooc and Eustaquio were rushed to the hospital in critical condition after a truck plowed into a group of people waiting in line for cash assistance around 7:15 a.m. on Tuesday. Seven other individuals were also hurt.

The local government said the incident was "purely an accident," according to GMA News.

"Noong na-pull po sya (driver) sa vehicle, hindi na po sya humihinga (The driver was no longer breathing when we pulled him out)," Dr. Dennis Booth, city administrator, said.
