At least nine people were reportedly hurt after the truck driven by a 50-year-old male who suffered a heart attack and later died, plowed into dozens of people outside the city hall of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan Tuesday morning.
Police identified the driver as Herminio Verona, a city hall employee, who was driving a local government-owned dump truck when the incident happened at around 7:15 a.m.
Felix Malinao of the city's Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) said in a DZRH interview that around 50 people were waiting outside the city hall supposedly for cash assistance when the truck plowed into them.
He added the driver no longer had pulse when they checked him after the incident.
Videos posted on a certain Hi Da Ya's Facebook page showed residents in panic while checking on at least two people lying beneath the truck.
City Rep. Rida Robes said in the same radio station interview that they are already attending to the victims, including two who are in critical condition.
