The National Survey on Mental Health and Well-being (NSMHW), which is scheduled from May to June 2021, will collect data from 3,480 households and 7,328 individuals in Ilocos Region, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, National Capital Region, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Davao Region.

It will be conducted by the University of the Philippines-Manila in cooperation with the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development.

In a statement on Thursday, May 6, PSA said the results of the national survey will be used to estimate the national and regional lifetime and 12-month prevalence of selected mental, neurological, and substance use of (MNS) disorders among Filipinos.

Furthermore, the survey will determine the impact of these conditions as well as the health services utilization among those with MNS disorders.

Aside from the previously approved questionnaires, additional survey questionnaires will determine the impact of COVID-19 among Filipino children and adolescents (four to 17 years old) and the adult population.

Data collection activities for the NSMHW Phase II, which was originally scheduled from March 16, 2020, to November 2020 but did not push through due to community-wide quarantine brought about by the pandemic.

PSA said the activity has a total budget of P39.8 million.

The results of the survey are targeted to be released in July 2021.
