Janine Teñoso plumbs heartbreak on new single 'Paano'

Janine Teñoso is living up to her singer-songwriter tag.

After her breakthrough hit cover of the Philpop-winning song “’Di Na Muli,” Janine returns to co-writing her own songs, as exemplified by her new single titled “Paano.”

On “Paano,” Janine co-writes with This Band’s ace songwriter Euwie Von Loria and her sister Kyra Luthi (who’s also a singer).

Janine’s singing grows more compelling as she goes. Her robust voice shifts from normal to falsetto seamlessly as she sings over palm muted acoustic guitar rhythms that eventually progresses into a mid-tempo ballad about heartbreak and regret.

This is Janine’s latest single after releasing her cover of the James Reid and Nadine Lustre-sung hit “Hanap Hanap” with Ethan Loukas a couple of months back, and her first original since 2020’s “Umibig Muli.”

Janine had her breakthrough moment after she sang the movie theme song for the Anne Curtis and Dingdong Dantes starrer “Sid & Aya: Not A Love Story.” The song was “’Di Na Muli.”

Since then, Janine has also served as the voice behind several movie soundtracks including “241,” for 100 Tula Para Kay Stella, “Ulan” for the Nadine Lustre starrer “Ulan,” and “Tag-araw,” for the MMFF box-office hit, Miracle In Cell No. 7. She also covered The Juans hit “’D Tayo Pwede” for the “Indak” movie OST.

While she’s known for her song covers, Janine actually debuted with a self-penned composition entitled “Fall” released in 2017.
