The number of low-income beneficiaries receiving the government’s financial assistance in the National Capital Region (NCR)-plus has increased to over 2.2 million or almost 10 percent of the 22.9 million people targeted to receive the aid, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) disclosed on Tuesday night, April 13.
Citing the Department of interior and Local Government (DILG) monitoring report, DSWD spokesperson Irene Dumlao told the Manila Bulletin that as of 11 a.m., April 13, a total of 2,245,728 low-income earners affected by the imposition of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in the NCR, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal have received their cash aid.
So far, the local government units (LGUs) have disbursed P2.24-billion supplemental aid in NCR-plus, she said, citing the "9.8-percent” payout rate in NCR-plus.
Based on the DILG report, the NCR logged the highest distribution rate at 16.48 percent with a total of 1,841,750 beneficiaries served, receiving P1.84 billion worth of aid. There are 11,172,988 target recipients in NCR.
Next to NCR was Rizal, which reported 268,427 “actual beneficiaries paid” out of its targeted 2.6 million recipients. The payout rate in Rizal was placed at 10.27 percent.
Meanwhile, Cavite LGUs have disbursed P63-million financial aid to a total of 63,044 recipients. A total of 3,44,488 low-income people are expected to receive the aid in Cavite.
In Bulacan, a total of 43,943 recipients have received their aid amounting to P43.9 million, while in Laguna, more than P28.5-million aid has been distributed to 28,564 beneficiaries.
On Monday night, April 12, DSWD Secretary Rolando Joselito D. Bautista reported to President Duterte that as of April 11, a total of 1,757,281 beneficiaries in NCR-plus got their aid.
Less than two hours before the President’s televised briefing on Monday, the DSWD reported that more than P1.1-billion supplemental aid for ECQ areas has been distributed over 1 million beneficiaries during the April 7 to 9 payouts, citing the DILG report dated April 10.
