In a statement issued on Wednesday, April 14, BuCor expressed its deepest sympathies to Vinarao’s family.

“Atty. Vinarao will be dearly remembered by his friends and colleagues as a dedicated public servant,” it said.

BuCor Director General Gerald Q. Bantag has urged the country to be “inspired by the former DG’s legacy of integrity and dedication to reforming lives.”

Vinarao, who died last April 12 at age 86, served as BuCor director general from 1994 to 1998.  His second term was from 2004 to 2007.

During his time at the Philippine National Police (PNP), he became the commander of what is now known as the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).
