The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) has again asked the public to report “solicitations” in social media accounts using the name of Director General Gerald Q. Bantag.

In a statement, BuCor said “DG Bantag nor any other senior BuCor officials will not SOLICIT any money or goods using this organization.”

“If you were contacted or had any transaction with this fake account or found any incident similar to this, please inform us immediately by calling our hotline at 84783597 or email us at [email protected],” it said

BuCor said that “a facebook account using the name of our good DG Bantag is circulating online under the account name Gerald Bantag and soliciting money considerations.  Please be advised that this is not DG Bantag's official facebook page.”

“We strongly advise followers to make sure personal information is not shared and that any transaction or announcement made from this fake account is not associated to DG Bantag in any way,” it said.

Last Friday, April 9, BuCor has warned the public against persons impersonating as its senior officers and soliciting contributions for future programs and events.

“We would like to inform the public that BuCor has not authorized any individual to conduct such activity especially using the name of the BuCor officials,” it said.
