Number of residents willing to be vaccinated doubles in Navotas

The number of Navotas City residents who expressed willingness to be vaccinated has doubled following the surge in the number of new COVID-19 cases, Mayor Toby Tiangco said Monday.

Tiangco said the local government saw a "100 percent increase" in their inoculation program registration after they started vaccinating the city's senior citizens.

"Kahit yung mga wala sa priority, lahat gusto na magpabakuna ngayon (Even those who are not listed under the priority list already want to get vaccinated)," he said in an ANC interview.

Tiangco said the increase in the number of those willing to get the vaccine only means that people are getting more afraid of the virus; since these days, he said, it is impossible that someone does not know another one close to him who is not infected yet.

"Sa tingin ko ngayon siguro mas nag-iingat na sila (I believe they are taking more precautions now)," he said, "But sad to say, today is our last for AstraZeneca kasi 500 na lang 'yung natitira samin (because we only have 500 doses remaining) ."
