STITCH initiates digital pivot, to be MSMEs ally in cloud computing and IT solutions

Taking off from the gains of its technology-related initiatives, the Tanco Group has launched new information technology (IT) firm STITCH Tech Solutions as an expression of the group’s commitment to its digital pivot.

STITCH takes on the business of Cloud Computing, which together with Data Science, have become buzzwords in the IT and business fields in the Philippines in the last few years. The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated interest in the two concepts with Data Science being relevant in tracking and projecting new cases, among other things, and Cloud Computing serving as a key tool in work-from-home arrangements.

Prior to the pandemic, the group that owns the STI network of schools saw the potential of both Data Science and Cloud Computing, and how these related concepts can greatly contribute to the advancement of enterprises through Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and of the IT industry in the country. In fact, they recently launched Data Science-related courses -- the first institutions in the Philippines to offer such programs in the college level.

The Tanco Group also made headway with the launch of PhilCare’s artificial intelligence powered HeyPhil app a few years back. This eventually became a key element leading to the company being one of the country’s most preferred health maintenance organizations.

“Integrating our businesses into having one IT backbone aided by Data Science and Cloud Computing is important because it enables us to become more efficient in our operations and provide the best customer experience possible. We have seen it work in one of our businesses. Now, we look forward to making it work even more, so that even more Filipinos would benefit from it,” STITCH Chairman Eusebio H. Tanco said.

“With STITCH now here, we also hope to advance further our existing technology-related endeavors to create an ecosystem that empowers even more people in this digital age,” he added.

Not only does STITCH aim to integrate the digitization efforts of the companies under the Tanco Group, but it also looks to empower micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), so they can continue operating even amid the pandemic and natural disasters that frequent the country.

“Why should they choose STITCH? For one, we are closely working with MSMEs. We are advocate of MSMEs and we want to help them. We provide solutions applicable to the MSMEs budget. STITCH is perfect for those who are just starting their businesses who are thinking of affordable budget for cloud computing and iT solutions. It will help them start their business more agile,” said STITCH COO Alex Aquino.

The benefits of cloud computing include the following:

Speed – Most cloud computing services provide self-service, and on-demand, so even vast amounts of computing resources can be provisioned in minutes.

Flexibility – Cloud computing is a flexible way of storing and accessing data over the internet. This means that your data is not tied down to one specific computer and can instead be accessed from several devices while still keeping all your information and data secure.

Global Scale – Delivering the amount of IT resources right when they’re needed and from the right geographic location. For instance, certain multinational companies have just one central server that can be accessed simultaneously from different locations in the Philippines and abroad. Geoblocks can be applied, if necessary.

Productivity – The accessibility of cloud solutions allows employees to work on-the-go; all they need is a connection to the internet to work from wherever they need to.

Cost savings – The cloud allows you to trade capital expenses (such as data centers and physical servers) for variable costs. It can save you an estimated 30-50% in infrastructure spending. Cloud solutions are often handled by vendors who provide cloud computing services.

“With cloud computing, businesses can store and access files and software, especially large ones, without necessarily buying a physical server, saving them office space and cost. Office personnel can also work from home or anywhere else other than their usual workplaces. Cloud computing is something that encompasses all solutions. Everything runs on computer,” Aquino further said.

“In a country prone to disasters, coupled with the pandemic, and with MSMEs serving as the backbone of the economy, it just makes perfect sense that cloud computing is a key solution towards achieving not just business continuity, but our economy bouncing back better,” said STITCH Chairman Eusebio H. Tanco.

“Our financial health as a country suffered this pandemic given that MSMEs function as our main economic lifeline. Through cloud computing, we want to give these businesses a shot in the arm, so they can get back on their feet the soonest and not just survive but thrive. Tech would play a very big role in the new normal in the post pandemic future,” STITCH CEO Jaeger L. Tanco said.

Aside from cloud computing services, Stitch offers SAP Consultation and IT Services such as website and app development and management, as well as IT support and enhancement of day-to-day operations.

“Our vision is to be technologically advance. Now is the perfect time to share it to others,” Jaeger added.
