'The Ocean, Our Climate, and Weather': 156th National & 71st World Meteorological Day 2021


The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) will be celebrating the 156th National & 71st World Meteorological Day on Tuesday, March 23.

With this year’s theme, "The Ocean, Our Climate, and Weather," PAGASA will be celebrating the momentous event through the conduct of various activities, including a forum on oceanography and conferment of Loyalty Awards.

The day's event will culminate with the awarding of the PAGASA Mobile Phone Photography Contest, which is in line with the celebration's theme. The grand prize winner will receive P10,000.

In addition, an information and education campaign webinar highlighting the works and wonders of meteorology through innovations by senior high school students will be conducted on Wednesday, March 24.

The activity will be open for pre-registration to science enthusiasts and students.

The World Meteorological Day annually takes place on March 23rd, commemorating the establishment of the World Meteorological Organization in 1950.

In the Philippines, PAGASA celebrates National Meteorological Day by virtue of Proclamation no. 594 signed in 1995.
