Beauty content creator shares customer experience from Baguio establishment

In a series of Tiktok videos, makeup artist Miss Nate shared a bad customer experience she and her friends got from a restaurant during a recent trip to Baguio.
According to beauty content creator, they were supposed to eat at The Barn restaurant. Apart from its scenic dining, the artisanal establishment attracts many tourists thanks to its serving of prime steak platters and truffle French fries. Miss Nate and her pack were looking forward to trying the truffle French fries, which, unfortunately, started the drama.
"Nag-start kami na maka-feel ng irita sa babae nagtatake ng order namin dahil sa truffle fries (We are starting to get irritated on the girl that's taking our order because of the fries)," she said. "We were trying to order truffle fries, I mean, who doesn't like truffle fries, 'di ba? Sabi niya, 'Ay, 'di po kayo pwede umorder ng truffle fries dahil hindi po kayo umorder ng main course. Soup and sandwich lang po yung inorder niyo (We were trying to order truffle fries, I mean, who doesn't like truffle fries, right? She said, 'Oh, you cannot order the truffle fries because you didn't order a main course. You only ordered soup and sandwiches.)"

Prior to asking for the fries, Miss Nate also said that her group paid P1,000 consumable fee each to have a table, and spent it on soups, sandwiches, drinks, and pastas. But apart from their request being denied, what frustrated them even more is that they were being treated as if they cannot afford to dine in the restaurant.
From that point, they have decided to eat at another establishment. To their surprise, an employee of the nearby restaurant said this usually happens relaying, "Marami po talagang pumupunta dito na galing doon kasi nga sobrang mahal daw at masungit (There are a lot of people that go here after leaving that restaurant due to being expensive an hostile)."
After releasing the TikTok videos, many netizens went on to The Barn's Facebook page and demanded a response. In another video, Miss Nate mentioned that some comments are "deleted by the page, even the ones on its Instagram page."
Earlier this week, The Barn posted an official response through social media, calling the incident "the truffle fries that launched a thousand posts."
In the statement released last Feb. 8, 2021, the restaurant shared that they operate via reservation, though they also welcome walk-ins if the space permits, in accordance with mandated health and safety protocols. The restaurant also mentioned that Miss Nate and the group were reluctant to pay the said fee, as they have already eaten in other establishments.
"The protocols were mentioned to them as it is mentioned to all our walk-in guests in a straightforward manner. There was no hostility or rudeness," the statement read. "Not wanting to abide by our protocols, these individuals got upset and said they will go somewhere else… they made a veiled threat to take this to social media to take us down."
According to the restaurant, not only did it receive negative comments on social media, it also got fake negative reviews on travel sites saying, "They gave a masterclass on cyberbullying and social media extortion."
For the other food establishment mentioned by Miss Nate, The Barn expressed that they should help each other given the pandemic situation. What saddened The Barn is that they always recommend the restaurant to its guests that are looking for dining alternatives.
"The Barn will not dignify cyberbullying and false posts with an answer. We also do not tolerate social media extortion," it ends.
The restaurant's post now has more than 300 shares and over 700 comments. Visit @Miss Nate Makeup on TikTok to know the makeup artist's response.
