(G)I-DLE comes back with ‘I Burn,’ debuts at No. 1 on music charts

K-pop girl group (G)I-DLE made their comeback with the release of their mini-album “I Burn,” which made its debut at No. 1 on music charts.

(G)I-DLE released “I Burn” containing six tracks: the main song “Hwaa,” “Hann (Alone in Winter),” “Moon,” “Where is Love,” “Lost” and “Dahlia.” Members Soyeon, Minnie and Yuqi also participated as songwriters in the album.

According to Hanteo Chart, “I Burn” debuted at No. 1 on the daily album chart with 75,510 copies sold on Jan. 11. This is higher by 19,147 copies compared to (G)I-DLE’s “Dumdi Dumdi” album released on Aug. 3 last year, which recorded 56,363 copies in first-day sales. “Dumdi Dumdi” eventually sold 94,587 copies in the first week.

“I Burn” also debuted at No. 1 on Gaon Music Chart’s daily retail album chart with 59,086 copies sold on Jan. 11.

(G)I-DLE released the music video for “Hwaa” on Jan. 11 on YouTube and it has garnered 5.01 million views as of writing.

Before the release of the album, (G)I-DLE held an online media showcase on YouTube for “I Burn” where they answered questions from the press.

Last year, (G)I-DLE set a personal best record with their album “I Trust,” released on April 6, which achieved 112,075 copies in the first week of release and topped Hanteo’s weekly physical album chart. The album also became No. 1 on iTunes in 61 countries and regions.

At the recent 35th Golden Disc Awards (GDA), (G)I-DLE won Best Performance and at the 2020 Soribada Best K-Music Awards, they took home the Hallyu Performance Award. They also bagged the Global Hottest award at The Fact Music Awards.

They were also nominated for Best K-pop for “Oh My God” at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards (VMA).
