Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather specialist Chris Perez said Baguio City registered the lowest minimum air temperature on Monday at 10.8 degrees Celsius.

It is slightly higher than the 10.4 degrees Celsius registered last Sunday, which is so far the coldest day in Baguio City in 2021.

Other stations that recorded cold temperatures on Monday were:

Laoag City -- 17.0 degrees Celsius
Tanay, Rizal -- 18.3 degrees Celsius
Malaybalay, Bukidnon -- 19.0 degrees Celsius
Tuguegarao City, Cagayan -- 19.2 degrees Celsius
Sinait, Ilocos Sur -- 19.5 degrees Celsius
Casiguran, Aurora -- 19.6 degrees Celsius

PAGASA's Science Garden monitoring station in Quezon City also registered a cooler weather on Monday at 21.6 degrees Celsius, lower than Sunday's 23.5 degrees Celsius.

Perez said the current amihan episode will temporarily weaken towards the middle of the week.

"The amihan season will last until February so expect colder temperatures from time to time," he said.

PAGASA on Monday said cloudy skies with light amihan rains may continue to affect Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Masbate, Aurora, and Quezon.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon may also have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may also persist in Visayas and Mindano due to the tail-end of frontal system and intertropical convergence zone.

PAGASA advised residents of Visayas and Mindanao to remain alert for possible flash floods or landslides due to anticipated moderate to heavy rains.

A gale warning also remains in effect on Monday morning due to strong to gale force winds associated with the surge of amihan.

Rough to very rough seas may affect the eastern seaboards of Southern Luzon and Visayas, western seaboard of Luzon, and northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon.

As sea travel over these waters is still risky, fishing boats and other small sea vessels were advised to prevent from travelling out to sea, while larger sea vessels were asked to remain alert against big waves.
