While everyone was high cheers last holiday season, the case was not the same for Quezon City food establishment Uno Restaurant as it closed its doors forever during Christmas Eve.

Through a Facebook post last Dec. 24, the iconic food spot announced its unfortunate closing, ending its 25 years of serving good food.

"Thank you for your patronage," it said. "We would like to announce that at the end of business day on December 24, Uno Restaurant will be closing. It was truly our pleasure and privilege serving you all these years."

Founded by Jose Mari Relucio, Uno Restaurant, apart from its Italian and Mediterranean cuisines, was known for its baked goods, from the warm ciabatta to focaccia and pagnotta.

"Dining is about little subtleties coming together and enhancing the experience," Relucio said to Mabuhay. "Serving bread becomes part of the whole thing that you enjoy."

Uno Restaurant was the last food establishment to close down for good in 2020. It joined the list of other Quezon City restaurants, such as Route 196 in Katipunan, Today X Future in Cubao, and Shangri-La Finest Chinese Cuisine, that ended their operation during the height of the pandemic.
