Calling all Filipino artists!
The pandemic may impose numerous restrictions for health and safety concerns, but it is not strong enough to stop Filipinos from being creative. That is what The Metrobank Foundation, Inc. (MBFI) wants to celebrate with the launch of the 2021 edition of Metrobank Art and Design Excellence (MADE).
Established in 1984, The annual painting and sculpture competition continues its mission to support and foster Filipinos’ talents and crafts, especially during this time of crisis. With that in mind, this year’s MADE will play around the theme “SPECTRUM: The Art of Possibilities,” “inviting Filipino artists to tap into the expansive realm of creativity and transpose their spectrum of ideas into works that mirror the human experience and reshape the world anew.”
In light of the health climate in the country, MADE will take place online with the #SpectrumMADE2021, a social media campaign aiming to bring art experience and education to people in the safety of their own home. Art fans and MADE participants can expect a series of virtual art activities, from webinars to artist's talk, lined up throughout the year.
“Artistic creation is a never-ending process, enduring and thriving amid the flux,” MBFI said. “MADE continues to be a purveyor of visual arts, amplifying the reach and voice of local talents and visionaries.”
Filipino artists aged 18 to 35 years old, who have not had a solo exhibition, are welcome to join the competition. Deadline of submission of entries is on March 31.
