DOUBLE WHAMMY: Janine Gutierrez brought home the bacon for GMA Network with two best actress awards in 2019.

The young actress scored back-to-back wins in acting from the URIAN (Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino) and the FAMAS (Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences) for her portrayal of an empowered woman in 2019 film, Baril at Babae.

Janine earlier gained notice for another remarkable performance in the underrated film, Elise. She played an upward, liberated woman in the witty, well written, and well- acted film.

She will be seen next opposite Paulo Avelino in T-Rex Entertainment’s "Ngayon Kaya."

BEST ACTRESSES: With Janine’s double whammy of a win, we take note of the roster of other award-winning actresses under GMA. Network is to be credited for honing the skills of its artists by way of roles in tele-series that challenge their emotion, as well as their intellect, so that they come out of those assignments as well crafted, refined artists.

There’s Lovi Poe, versatile in both dramatic and sexy roles.

She was named Best Actress at the 10th International Film Festival in Manhattan for her role as a violent wife in film "Latay."

Lovi’s next TV gig is a light-hearted comedy series, "Owe My Love" opposite Benjamin Alves.

Barbie Forteza won Best Actress for Laut at the Fantasporto 2016 international film festival in Portugal.

Glaiza de Castro, dependable actress known for her fierce characterizations, named best actress for her work in Liway by Film Academy of the Philippines in 2019.

UNDERRATED GEMS: Marian Rivera is underrated. Her acting chops are eclipsed by her great beauty.

Sunshine Dizon, perfect for fighter roles.

Carla Abellana and Rhian Ramos have yet to gain acclaim as actors, although their ‘Love of My Life’ co-star Coney Reyes praised the two for their excellence.

Coney posted recently on Instagram: These two young actresses exhibit excellent work ethic and display remarkable acting skills. I would say they are underrated. Through time, I know they will get even better. Such gems of GMA.”

THE SUPERSTAR:  Of course, GMA has under its wing no less than the Philippine superstar, Nora Aunor, whose artistry is beyond compare and has been proven many times by all award-giving bodies in the Philippines. Nora has several best actress trophies, too, from prestigious festivals abroad, like Cairo, Malaysia, Belgium.

GMA is also home to Ai Ai de las Alas,

ASEAN Film Festival 2017 best actress for Area. She was also Cinemalaya 2018 best actress for School Service.
