A wanted fugitive who escaped from the Laguna Provincial Jail has been captured in Nueva Ecija, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) announced on Tuesday, Dec. 15.
NBI Laguna District Office (LAGDO) head Danny Daganzo in a statement on Tuesday, Dec. 15, identified the suspect as Edwin Flores Ibanez.
Daganzo said Ibanez was arrested at a house where he has been hiding in Barangay Tayabong in San Jose City by joint operatives of the NBI-LAGDO, the Laguna Provincial Jail and the San Jose City Police Station.
“After his capture, Subject was detained at the NBI-LAGDO in Sta. Rosa, Laguna for documentation prior to his turn-over to the Laguna Provincial Jail for re-commitment,” Daganzo said.
Ibanez has been detained at the Laguna Provincial Jail over charges of qualified rape through sexual assault and for two counts of violating Section 5(b) of Republic Act 7610, the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act,
However, he managed to escape the prison facility before dawn of Nov. 2 and was also able to take with him long and short firearms as well as a bladed weapon.
“Upon receipt of the said alarm, LAGDO conducted immediate verification wherein information was received from an informant that subject escapee is currently in San Jose City, Nueva Ecija,” said Daganzo.
“The said information was verified and showed that indeed Subject escapee Edwin Flores Ibanez is currently hiding/staying at a household in Barangay Tayabong, San Jose City, Nueva Ecija,” he added.
