COVID-19 active cases in Quezon City now at 2 percent

Quezon City’s number of active coronavirus disease (COVID-19) decreased by about 50 percent on Wednesday as compared to its number a day before.

According to the local government, the city’s number of active cases has gone down to two percent of its total confirmed cases, from four percent on Tuesday.

Of 24,189 total confirmed cases, only the 500 are the ones remaining active, the local government said.

The local government called on its constituents to continue cooperating with its efforts to prevent the further spread of the virus.

Considering that the city was once the hotbed of COVID-19 infections in the country, Mayor Joy Belmonte, in a recent statement, welcomed the development and said that the city's "numbers show great improvements."

"We are hopeful that this precedes our ultimate goal of being a COVID-free city," she said.

The OCTA Research meanwhile stressed that the city should sustain in one to two weeks its positive rate, if not further lowering it down, before allowing further relaxation of quarantine protocols.
