Typhoon Ulysses left a trail of destruction over a large area of Luzon. It could not have come at a worse time, with several provinces still reeling from several typhoons that hit the country, the latest of which was supertyphoon Rolly. In a span of about a month, six storms hit the Bicol area, which brought unprecedented destruction in the region. Last weekend, there was massive flooding in Cagayan Valley, especially in the provinces of Isabela and Cagayan.
We need to help. Not everyone can go to the areas affected and doing so without help from the local authorities could be difficult. There are several organizations which are helping. I’ve listed a couple below. Apologies if I’m not able to list all organizations, or you feel I should have included one you work with. The list below is a partial list which I found on-line. I suggest checking on-line for more organizations. What is very important is you vet the organization you donate to. There are several organizations to choose from. Work with one you’re comfortable with (even if the organization is not included in the list below).

College Editors Guild of the Philippines – The College Editors Guild of the Philippines (CEGP) is calling for in-kind and monetary donations for victims of #UlyssesPH. Millennials PH – Millennials PH spearheaded an initiative dubbed as Kapit Pinas for residents in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna, Cavite, Mindoro provinces, Marinduque, Quezon, Sorsogon, Albay, Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, and Camarines Norte. Philippine Animal Welfare Society – The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) plans to distribute pet food and relief packs to pet owners who were affected by Typhoon Ulysses. The group is in need of in-kind donations such as dog and cat food, ready-to-eat food for pet owners, and hygiene packs. These can be dropped off starting 10 a.m. Friday, November 13, at PAWS Animal Rehabilitation Center, Aurora Blvd. Katipunan Valley, Loyola Heights, Quezon City. Pembarya – Pembarya, a non-profit organization, is also opening its donation channels for typhoon survivors in Marikina, one of the hard-hit cities in NCR. The group accepts monetary and in-kind donations to help affected communities. Quarantine Tribute Tips – Quarantine Tribute Tips (QTT) has launched the #ParaSaRizal project, which seeks to provide relief for hard-hit communities in Rizal province. Similar to other initiatives, QTT is also accepting in-kind donations like food, water, hygiene products, blankets, medicines, surgical masks, alcohol, and school supplies.
