Post-‘Ulysses’ rains over flooded Cagayan, Isabela

Flood-hit Cagayan and Isabela may experience isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon or "amihan" in the next 24 hours.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the amihan may bring isolated light rains over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Apayao, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, and Quirino.

The tail-end of cold front or the boundary between the cold northeast monsoon and warm easterly winds may also bring scattered moderate to at times heavy rains and thunderstorms over Batanes.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA advised that possible floods or landslide may occur during severe thunderstorms.

A gale warning also remains in effect on Saturday morning due to strong to gale force winds associated with the surge of amihan and typhoon Vamco, formerly Ulysses.

Rough to very rough seas may prevail over the coast of Batanes, and northern coast of Cagayan, including Babuyan Islands.

The seaboards of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, and Kalayaan may also become rough to very rough.

PAGASA advised fishing boats and small boats not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels were asked to remain alert against big waves.
