Alert raised in low-lying area in QC, Valenzuela due to La Mesa Dam overflow

The water level of La Mesa Dam as of 4:27 a.m. is 79.88 m and is expected to rise due to continuous moderate to heavy rains. Excess waters in La Mesa Dam will overflow in the event that the dam elevation reaches 80.15,” the 4:30 a.m. dam situationer of PAGASA’s Hydrometeorology Division indicated.

Because of this, water from La Mesa Dam is expected to affect low lying areas along Tullahan River in Quezon City and Valenzuela City.

The affected areas in Quezon City are Fairview, Forest Hills Subd., Quirino Highway, Sta. Quiteria, and San Bartolome.

In Valenzuela, the  affected areas are Brgy. Ligon and La Huerta Subd.

“All resident living in the aforementioned areas, especially those near the river banks or the floodplains are advised to be alert for possible floodings,” advised the Hydrometeorology Division.

“PAGASA shall continue to monitor the hydrological condition of La Mesa Dam and provide an update to the concerned agencies and LGUs (local government units),” it added.
