"Living simply is very important to me." This is what actress Andi Eigenmann recently declared on her latest vlog.
This is because she wants to raise her kids "to not be materialistic."
According to her, she wanted her kids Ellie and Lilo to be more "grateful" and "appreciative" about the simple things in life.
"Find happiness in experiences, in other people, and in themselves and not have to rely on materials things to, you know, get motivation or to be happy," she explained.
She vows to lead "by example."
"I always write about it in my Instagram posts. I always write about wanting and striving to be the best person that I can be, so that I can influence my children to be the same... a good role model."
She recalled how in the past, her old self "relied on material things."
"Retail therapy all the time to make myself feel better or as a way to reward myself when I've had a busy work week," she remembered.
However, over the years, Andi realized that indeed "money does not buy happiness."
The realization came in part thanks to longtime partner Philmar Alipayo.
"He was the person that made me realize how much more important it was to live in the moment and build more meaningful relationships and spend your money creating all of these memories rather than things you'll probably won't remember," she said.
Two months ago, Andi showed fans how to use recyclable materials to create DIY toys for kids.
Last September, Andi opened up why she choose to live a simple life in Siargao over show business.
