DSWD has P884-M stockpile, funds for typhoon relief


The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) maintains stockpiles and standby funds amounting to P884 million to ensure the quick provision of augmentation assistance to local government units (LGUs) that may be affected by super typhoon "Rolly."

Of this amount, around P304 million are standby funds readily available at the DSWD central office and field offices. 

Moreover, 260,164 family food packs were also prepositioned in strategic areas across the country.

The DSWD assured that all its disaster response teams on the track of Rolly are on alert status to respond to any eventuality that may occur due to the tropical cyclone.

Its Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG) assured that the quick response teams (QRTs) are ready for deployment to assist LGUs to render immediate and timely disaster response to their constituents.

Emergency equipment have been prepared to ensure available communication means among disaster teams during disaster operations.

The DSWD reminded the public to remain vigilant and alert on the possible impact of Rolly, as well as cooperate with their LGUs to ensure their safety.
