VIRAC, Catanduanes – The provincial government here has issued a mandatory evacuation order for all residents living in coastal areas as tropical cyclone wind signal number three was raised in the province mid-day Saturday, October 31.

Barely a few days after tropical storm Quinta barreled through the province, residents braced themselves anew for the full force of “Rolly” which was expected to intensify into a super typhoon just before it makes landfall.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has warned of possible three-meter storm surge here and in Bicol region coastlines that could be spawned by “Rolly”.
Residents here were seen preparing more earnestly for the arrival of “Rolly”, which they expect to be fiercer than “Quinta”. The latter hit the province less than a week ago, and left seven fishermen dead and another missing.
Local authorities here have also been conducting emergency meetings to prepare for the new weather disturbance.
Meanwhile, all seacraft have been prohibited from setting sail.
The distribution of relief goods has also started Saturday morning.
