IBP condemns ambush of female judge, secretary


The Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Camarines Sur Chapter condemned the ambush of a judge in Libmanan town on Tuesday (Oct. 21) afternoon.

“We condemn in the strongest terms the wicked attempt and vicious assault to the life of judge Jeaneth Gaminde San Joaquin of RTC (regional trial court) Branch 56 and her secretary,” IBP Camarines Sur said in a statement.

“IBP Camarines Sur in coordination with the authorities will leave no corners hidden nor quarters safe for the evil perpetrators,” the organization assured.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) said that the ambush happened at around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the vicinity of Barangay Puro Batia in Libmanan.

Police investigators said that those hurt from the ambush were the 46-year-old magistrate and her secretary identified as Rocelle Martinez, 34.

They were aboard a service vehicle on the way to the court when they got ambushed.

Witnesses said unidentified gunmen aboard a motorcycle were behind the attack and managed to get away.

Following the ambush, the two victims were rushed to the Libmanan District Hospital for treatment.
