Police identify two suspects behind robbery-slay in Valenzuela City

The Valenzuela City Police Station (VCPS) have already identified the two motorcycle-riding suspects behind the robbery slay of a company messenger in Valenzuela City recently.

Col. Fernando Ortega, chief of VCPS, said they have already launched a manhunt operation to arrest suspects Rico "Moja" Reyes and Narciso "Tukmol" Santiago, who are tagged in the Oct. 9 killing of 30-year-old Niño Luegi Hernando and who allegedly took away his motorcycle and about P443,000 cash money he just withdrew from the bank.

The suspects' identity were discovered following investigation based on closed-circuit television footages and statements of several individuals, including the first owner of the motorcycle used by the suspects, a witness, and a childhood friend of one of them.

Witnesses

Ortega said, police investigators had discovered that the suspects did not originally own the motorcycle they used and that they just bought it on Facebook. Therefore, police immediately reached out to the first owner of the motorcycle, who then told them that he sold his vehicle to Reyes. He even provided a photo of them during the transaction.

Meanwhile, Ortega added, Santiago's neighbor told police that he saw him in the area where the crime was committed.

"Alam nyang loko-loko ito at maraming kaso na nasangkutan. That's why noong makita nya si Tukmol (Santiago) doon, naisip agad nya na may mangyayaring masama sa area na 'yun (He knew that Santiago was a troublemaker and involved in many legal charges. That's why when he saw him, he already thought that something would happen in that area)," Ortega said in a press briefing.

Ortega said that police also already talked to a key witness, who saw the suspects before and after the crime.

"Wala pong helmet at face mask yung suspect number 1 natin noong bumaba sa isang vehicle...bumaba yun, may isinukbit na baril sa loob ng sling bag... so talagang kita po, personal (Suspect No. 1 was not wearing a helmet and a face mask, so when he alighted from a vehicle, the witness saw him putting a gun inside a sling bag. He really saw it in person)," the police chief said, adding that probers are also investigating a van which the suspects also used prior to committing the crime.

"Then another po, yung second suspect po na drive noong motor is nakita rin po nya kasi binubusinahan sya sa likod because isasakay na po yung gunman (The witness also saw the other suspect onboard the motorcycle because he was honking his vehicle at him)," he added.

Police said, they already filed robbery, murder and carnapping cases before the city's prosecutor's office against the suspects.
