Kosei Tomita, who originally voiced the anime character Doraemon in 1973, died on Sept. 27. He was 84 years old.
A statement from his agency said that Tomita died after suffering a stroke.
He began his career as a voice actor in 1963 wherein he voiced numerous animes including "Doraemon," "Lupin the Third," "Cowboy Bebop," and "Astroboy" to name a few.
He also lent his voice in various games and movies.
In 2009, Tomita was honored with an Achievement Award at the 3rd Seiyu Awards, a ceremony held in recognition of voice acting talent held annually in Japan.
