Improved weather as ‘Kristine’ leaves PAR

The whole country can expect warm mornings with chances of isolated afternoon or evening rain showers in the next few days with the exit of typhoon "Kristine" (international name "Haishen") from the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Kristine left PAR Saturday night and was 1,140 kilometers northeast of extreme Northern Luzon Sunday morning.

Weather specialist Benison Estareja said the typhoon is not expected to enhance the southwest monsoon or "habagat." The habagat will remain weak and may not bring monsoon rains over the western section of the country, he added.

Fair weather due to partly cloudy to cloudy skies in the morning will prevail until Thursday but there will still be some isolated rain showers that may occur in the afternoon or evening when localized thunderstorms are more active.

Based on PAGASA's extended weather outlook until Sept. 10 (Thursday), air temperature will range from 26 to 33 degrees Celsius in Metro Manila, 24 to 35 degrees Celsius in Tuguegarao City, 16 to 25 degrees Celsius in Baguio City, 25 to 33 degrees Celsius in Cebu City, and 26 to 33 degrees Celsius in Davao City.

Although Kristine is already outside the country's area of responsibility, Estareja said a gale warning remains in effect as the typhoon may cause rough to very rough sea conditions off the coasts of Batanes, Cagayan, and Babuyan Islands.

Fisherfolk and those using small boats are prevented from venturing out over these coasts.

Moderate to rough seas will be experienced over the rest of the country's seaboards. Those with small seacraft were advised to take precaution while setting sail onto the ocean.
