Mayor Rex Gatchalian said the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) led the construction of a new isolation facility in Barangay Arkong Bato, where container vans will be used to isolate 40 asymptomatic and mild COVID-19 patients.

Each unit has its own air-conditioning system, bathroom, and bed.

It will become operational starting Sept. 9, according to the city’s public information office chief Zyan Caiña.

The new facility will add to the five existing facilities of the city, bringing the total number of patients the local government can accommodate to 1,040.

Gatchalian expressed his gratitude to the DPWH and the Inter-Agency Task Force against COVID-19 for the project.
