Typhoon Julian now outside of PAR but monsoon rains may still prevail

Typhoon "Julian" (international name "Maysak") has already left the Philippine area of responsibility Monday evening but a weak southwest monsoon or "habagat" may still prevail and affect some parts of the country.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said typhoon "Julian" was at 785 kilometers north-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon on Tuesday morning.

Weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio also said there were two other weather disturbances being monitored as of Tuesday--a tropical depression at 2,415 km east of extreme Northern Luzon and a low pressure area at 775 km east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

Aurelio however noted that the tropical depression is less likely to enter the Philippine area of responsibility while the LPA near Mindanao may not develop into a tropical cyclone.

The southwest monsoon enhanced by typhoon "Julian" may still bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro.

PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to scattered moderate with at times heavy rains over these areas.

Meanwhile, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to the weak "habagat" and localized thunderstorms may affect Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

The weather bureau also advised residents in these areas to remain alert for possible flash floods or landslides especially during sudden and severe thunderstorms that may occur in the afternoon or evening.

Based on the PAGASA's historical record, two to three cyclones may enter or form inside the country's area of responsibility this September, with some making landfall and crossing land.
