Streaming sites KissAnime and KissManga shut down permanently following stricter piracy laws in Japan.
The moderators of KissAnime subreddit posted a thread on Aug. 15, announcing the permanent closure of the site.
Sister site KissManga, which hosts manga comics, has also been taken down.
KissAnime support team announced that the shutdown was due to Japan's crackdown on piracy. In adherence to the country's laws, all files and anime episodes on KissAnime and KissManga were taken down by respective copyright owners.
Japan will be enacting stricter copyright laws from January 2021 onwards. The stricter laws will target leech websites that provide hyperlinks to download torrent files of pirated manga or anime.
