Monsoon rains over PH expected as 'Enteng' leaves

Monsoon rains will still persist even as tropical storm "Enteng" (international name: Jangmi) has already left the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Sunday afternoon.

(PAGASA / MANILA BULLETIN)

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) estimated the location of "Enteng" at 730 kilometers (km) northeast of extreme Northern Luzon around 3 p.m.

"Enteng" is packing maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts up to 90 kph.

Together with a low pressure area (LPA) at 285 km west-northwest of Subic, Zambales or 250 km west of Dagupan City, Pangasinan, "Enteng" will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon or "habagat" over Luzon and the western section of Visayas within the next 24 hours.

Monsoon rains will persist over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Cavite, and Batangas, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan. Occasional rains are also expected over Metro Manila, Aklan, Antique, and the rest of Luzon.

PAGASA advised residents in these areas to remain alert against possible flash floods or rain-induced landslides that may occur during heavy or prolonged rainfall.

Gusts of wind due to the "habagat" may also be experienced, especially in the coastal or mountainous communities of Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales, Benguet, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Masbate, Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental.#

PAGASA has issued a gale warning on Sunday due to rough to very rough sea conditions over the seaboards of Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, western coast of Batangas, western coast of Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Island, western coast of Palawan including Calamian Islands, Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, and Isabela. Fisherfolk and those using small boats should not  set sail over these seas.

Meanwhile, those venturing out over the coasts of Visayas and the rest Luzon were advised to take precautionary measures due to moderate to rough sea conditions.

Mindanao and the rest of the country will be generally partly cloudy to cloudy but may experience sudden but short-lived heavy rainfall in the afternoon or evening due to localized thunderstorms.
