Vice President Leni Robredo's office may have suspended its operations after four of its staff contracted coronavirus but it won’t stop from giving aid to affected Filipinos.
For now, Robredo said she and her team would work remotely, while proper disinfection are being carried out in their office.
“We ordered everyone to work from home while we are still ensuring that everyone is safe and that it will be safe to go back to our office already,” she wrote in a Facebook post.
Robredo said the operations at her office would continue as soon as the health and safety protocols are followed.
Last week, a staff at the Office of the Vice President (OVP) was found positive for coronavirus. The person was part of its COVID-19 response operations.
OVP spokesman Barry Gutierrez said this prompted the conduct of swab tests for other personnel, including Robredo.
The Vice President tested negative, but three other staff members tested positive for COVID-19.
Robredo prayed for members of the infected OVP staff and their families.
“We have assured them that we will take care of their needs every step of the way,” she said.
The lady official has been playing an active role in her office’s COVID-19 response efforts and personally oversees its daily operations.
Robredo’s office, in partnership with the private sector, has provided assistance to frontliners, including free shuttle service, dormitories, personal protective equipment, and food packs, among others.
