Stop harassing Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Rowena Guanzon and be a “good example” to the youth.

This was the appeal made by Kabataan party-list Rep. Sarah Jane Elago after the poll official complained that she was allegedly being harassed by Duterte Youth Partylist after the Comelec disqualified former youth commission chairman Ronald Cardema as nominee of the group.

Elago expressed alarm over reports that Guanzon received text messages “attacking” her and her family.

She expressed her group’s all-out support to the Comelec’s decision to disqualify Cardema for not complying with the prescribed age limit.

Elago said it is about time to take a second look at amending the Republic Act 7941, the “Partylist System Act” to ensure that the party-list groups truly represent underrepresented and marginalized sectors.

Bayan Muna party-list Rep. Ferdinand Gaite agreed with Elago, saying a review of the Partylist Law is needed to ensure that the partylist system is reserved for the marginalized and underrepresented.
